I started Pinoys.NZ with one thing in mind – to provide fellow Pinoys relevant information about living in New Zealand. Most of the time, my friends back in the Philippines would ask me, “Ano baa ng dapat gawin para makarating dyan?”, and it will take more than a bottle of beer to discuss the options. But the thing is, it will come a time that another person will ask for the same thing, and I have to go through the same process again.
So I started this site, to have a repository of information on what I know about coming to and living in New Zealand. My main target are Pinoys, regardless where they are in the world, and that’s the main reason why I rather use TagLish (Tagalog and English) as my media for communicating through this blog. It’s been about two months since I put this online, but at first, I envisioned a “forum-type” site. Pero mahirap, mostly mga tao nasa Facebook, and they rather hold their (lengthy) discussions there instead of going to another third party website to discuss things. That’s is why I just converted this into a blog, though I incorporated a Q & A type (ala-Quora) feature where visitors can ask questions lalo na yung may kinalaman sa New Zealand.
One thing that I also noticed in most Pinoy groups in Facebook are Filipinos like to promote something, whether it is an item to sell, a place to rent, or a service to offer. As such, I also included a classified posting feature. Nothing fancy at the moment, just a plain “post your ad” and interested people may contact the one who posted the ad directly.
That will be all. I hope you can get or learn something from visiting this website. Please like our Facebook page here.
